Performance-Based Assessment

Valleywise Health Medical Center – Maryvale Campus will be conducting a Performance-Based Assessment on September 28, 2024.

Space is limited so sign up as early as possible.  Individuals that have not been selected for the September 28th training course will be saved for future courses.

Deadline for registration will be September 20, 2024.

Objective:

The primary focus of this functional exercise is to simulate the setup of decontamination tents and equipment. Our dedicated healthcare responders will actively engage in determining and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment. The exercise will involve the triage and decontamination process for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients, demonstrating the proficiency of our Hospital Emergency Response Team.

Key Elements:

• Decontamination Tents and Equipment Setup: Testing the efficient establishment of decontamination areas.

• Personal Protective Equipment: Ensuring the correct use and selection of PPE by healthcare responders.

• Triage Process: Emphasizing the importance of effective triage for patient categorization.

• Communication and Information: Evaluating communication protocols during emergency situations.

Full-Scale Exercise: This comprehensive exercise will serve as a practical evaluation of our hospital’s policies and procedures related to emergency response. It will also thoroughly test the functionality of the equipment and supplies used in the decontamination process.

Training Evaluation: Members participating in the exercise will be assessed on their ability to carry out triage, communicate effectively, and manage information. The exercise aims to identify areas for improvement and ensure that our team is well-prepared for any emergency situation.

Students will follow the CDP and Valleywise Health code of conduct throughout this training process.
