Join us as we present our NEW training: Introduction to Exercise Basics for Healthcare!
Understanding the full spectrum of exercise types is critical to selecting the most effective tool for achieving specific preparedness objectives. Exercises are generally categorized into two main groups:
Discussion-Based Exercises
These focus on dialogue, collaboration, and planning without resource deployment:
- Seminars introduce or refresh knowledge of emergency plans.
- Workshops support development or revision of specific plans or protocols.
- Tabletop Exercises (TTXs) simulate scenarios to test decision-making and coordination.
- Games explore decision-making in competitive or time-limited settings.
Operations-Based Exercises
These involve action-oriented, often realistic response activities:
- Drills test specific tasks or procedures.
- Functional Exercises (FEXs) assess coordination and communication without full deployment.
- Full-Scale Exercises (FSEs) simulate real-time emergencies with full agency participation.
Evaluation and Improvement
Using HSEEP guidelines, exercises conclude with after-action reviews and corrective planning—ensuring continuous improvement and stronger healthcare system resilience.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Registration closes at noon the day prior to the training.
