2020 Preparedness Summit
August 23, 2020 - August 26, 2020
Disasters and emergencies expose the fault lines in our nation’s health security. In these times of crisis, the vulnerabilities that exist in individual and community, infrastructure, health, and environmental systems intersect and become intensified – especially for the most at-risk communities. A whole and fully functioning national security system is only as strong as its weakest component. That’s why this year’s theme, Fixing Our Fault Lines: Addressing Systemic Vulnerabilities, will focus on methods to identify systemic weaknesses and highlight tools and policies that can empower all communities, and particularly the ones that are most vulnerable, to address those weaknesses and become more resilient.
Each year, the Summit offers a unique learning and networking opportunity for current and aspiring emergency management, public health, and healthcare professionals, and their partners, to share perspectives and engage in dialogue on key public health preparedness and response issues. As the first and longest running national preparedness conference, the Preparedness Summit is the best place for you to gain the knowledge, resources, and relationships necessary to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies.
Don’t miss your chance to join more than 1,900 attendees—who work in all levels of government (local, state, and federal), emergency management, volunteer organizations, healthcare coalitions, and academia—to:
• Share your agency’s best practices and expertise with colleagues from the healthcare, emergency management, and public health preparedness fields to contribute to the advancement of our nation’s health security
• Build partnerships with these life-saving industries to strengthen your agency’s capacity in the face of emerging threats
• Advance your creative-thinking skillset to find new ways to prepare for, respond to, and recover from threats like pandemic diseases, natural disasters, the opioid crisis, active shooter emergencies, and cybersecurity attacks
• Participate in interactive training and take away innovative solutions and practical strategies to address the vulnerabilities in our nation’s health security system.
